Background

Adjacent to reception at the bank’s Aldermanbury Square offices was an empty room the client wished to utilise to enhance the visitor experience.

We were commissioned to design, produce and install graphic elements charting the bank’s history - “A Journey Through Time”.

Image Refinery At Work

We surveyed the site and established what content was available from the client to occupy the space. A 3D visualisation of the installation, with the proposed elements in situ, was submitted for approval.

The room was divided into history chapters - taking into account the structural features of the space - commencing with the bank’s foundation at the start of a visitors walk through route.

With the dimensions of the various panels established work commenced on design and layouts. The original documents and photographs charting the company’s early years were scanned and required extensive restoration to produce a facsimile of their original appearance. Further digital enhancement was applied to reproduce enlargements at the various display panel sizes.

A total of 24 panels ranging in size up to 2.19 square metres were printed in full colour directly onto 3mm Foamex Board and finished with a matt laminate. One element required a free-standing, life-size cut-out of a marathon runner whose arm extended into a background panel. This was produced by laminating the subject onto sheet aluminium that had been laser cut to match the image profile.

Our installation crew completed the build overnight so there was no disruption in the client’s reception area during trading hours.
